With E3 2013 coming up, we're all expecting some Superb Smashing Brethren Four news. I couldn't care less if it's just a video of Mario and Link having a taunt battle, simply giving us another reason to call our friends over and duke it out with our childhood icons is great. Thus, a myriad of fan theories and rosters have arose, even far before the confirmation. However, while there have been some decent rosters, plenty have been plagued with undesirable characters. While I do have my own suggestions for characters I would like for Smash 4, here are Characters that I would NOT LIKE to see in Smash 4.

I appreciate commentary on the talk page, whether it be pointing out fallacies in the page, criticism in general, or suggesting what I should add next.

Basically, I will name the character, my thoughts towards them, and give them a rating. This rating is my level of disapproval if they are confirmed to be in SSB4, with the higher the number, the greater I would not like the character in question to be featured. The bolded text is the main idea of the passage.

Rating Level of distraught
1-3 Diffident Deprecation.
4-6 Mildly Maddened.
7-9 Repulsed Reactions.
10 Significant Spurn.

Character Rating Why? / How Could You? / WTF DUDE? / I get easily offended by what anonymous people say over the internet, please justify yourself.

King K. Rool
3 Let me start this off by saying, I think Smash Bros. could use some more villains. It would add some variety, and allow us to explore the characters. With that, we have King K. Rool. He's the large Kremling commander, tyrannical and mighty. Unfortunately, K. Rool hasn't been in a main series game since the '64 -- since then, he's deduced to select sports games and handheld spinoffs. Even worse, in the series reboot, Krool isn't featured or mentioned. His relevance is fading away, and I think Nintendo is retiring the character. I don't think he would transition well into the world of Smash.

Random trivia: Krool has multiple personality disorder, being a king, pirate, mad scientist, and boxer in main games.

Pokémon Trainer SSBB.jpg

3-in-1 Gimmicks
4 OK, let's face it -- Who DOESN'T want to play as Charizard?! Pardon my nostalgia, but Charizard has an awesome appearance, varied moveset, and a chivalrous personality, "never torching a weaker foe". However, how would you like to be attached to two other characters? I mean, yes it is possible to simply switch back to Charizard, but there was a catch; he would be much weaker than he was just a minute or two ago. Why? Because of Stamina! Basically, you become weaker by participating in a game based around fighting. Sound familiar? Pichu's probably rolling in its grave (metaphorically speaking). In the trainer's case, it doesn't directly cause damage to the Pokemon, but it does severely hinder their ability to do battle. I would not like a 3-in-1 character again, because of the way the characters are balanced by making them less capable about two minutes in and forcing a switch. Pokemon Trainer is pretty much a novelty character.

Random trivia: Any of your Pokemon in the trio can become tired by doing nothing for three minutes and twenty seconds.

100px-571Zoroark.png
Zoroark
5 Zoroark is a Dark type Generation V Pokemon, known for being a deceptive glass cannon. A multitude of Pokemon fans have drawn parallels between Zoro and Lucario, as they have similar stats and their own respective movies starring the Pokemon. However, people also say that because Lucario supposedly "replaced" Mewtwo in SSBB, it is time for Zoroark to "replace" Lucario. This theory is flawed in a plethora of ways. One, Mewtwo wasn't 'replaced' as much as he was 'rejected', given his unpopularity among the top players of the game; He is almost considered a novelty. While Lucario may have a handful of similar moves, this doesn't mean Lucario exists to overshadow Mewtwo; Lucario was put in to demonstrate the unique concept of a character gaining strength as it took damage, to introduce a "high risk, high return" system of play, hence Lucario's roles in the Pokemon games being a glass cannon. While Zoro is a good Pokemon as well, we don't need to kick a unique character like Lucario to the curb to include a new character. If he was included alongside Lucario, I would check him out. If his inclusion is at the cost of Lucario, no deal.

Kiddy Kong
6 For those of you who already know me, you likely know that I am an editor of DKWiki (shameless plug) and help writing articles. In particular, the Donkey Kong Country series, which I grew up with. I've always loved the DKC series and their characters, but if I had to choose one character that I wouldn't like to be included in Smash 4, it is Kiddy Kong. Kiddy Kong is the younger cousin of Dixie Kong, one of the supposed beta characters of Brawl and is often requested for Smash 4. In the Donkey Kong universe, Dixie is introduced as Diddy Kong's girlfriend in Donkey Kong Country 2, where they both go into enemy territory and rescue Donkey Kong. In the game's sequel, both Donkey and Diddy are kidnapped, so Dixie and Kiddy go after them. While Dixie was the agile and practical choice, Kiddy was the heavier and less desire-able sidekick. Kiddy's greatest uses involve Dixie throwing him to a weak area in the floor to access a hidden area, or Kiddy flinging Dixie to a higher area. Aside from that, he was practically identical to the way Donkey Kong played, except when DK got hurt, he didn't wail and be completely obnoxious. If Kiddy enters Smash Bros., I would imagine he would be a smaller, weaker, and more annoying Donkey Kong.

Random trivia: Kiddy hasn't been in an official Donkey Kong game since 1997. He was planned to be in a Gamecube game, but it got canceled, and he was never heard from again.

100px-Cloud-FFVIIArt.png
Cloud
7 Oh boy, Cloud. Everyone has an opinion on Cloud, whether or not you've actually played a game with him in it -- He's an icon among Final Fantasy fans, cos-players, and people who haven't actually played FFVII since 1997. Because if you had, you would of known a lot of Cloud's dialogue contains the following select phrases; "The past" or "I love Aerith." I never particularly liked Cloud, because he never felt like a true, well defined FF character. He has a generic plot where he has to "defeat his dark side"... which has already been done to death, even back then in Square's own Final Fantasy IV, with Cecil. But in FFIV, Cecil defeats his dark side about halfway through the game and gets over himself, while Cloud drags it out until the end. As a Smash character, he would seem out of place, being a bland character who most likely end up being sluggish and using his gigantic sword for most of his attacks with maybe some hand-to-hand, for which we already have Ike to do. If he does get in, it'll be for the "cool" factor, which only makes him even more shallow. In addition, he's only just recently been featured on a Nintendo console, that being a music game. Don't even joke with Sepheroth either.

Random trivia: Cloud is actually the one who killed Aerith. Sepheroth paralyzed her; Cloud dropped her in the water, allowing her to sink. If she was dead, her corpse would have floated in water.

Pichu
9 When it became known that not every Melee character was in Brawl, most fans were disappointed. There are people who believe all the "forbidden five" should return, and I would have to disagree. Out of the five, Pichu is the worst. Pichu, in the context of the Pokemon world, is a "baby" Pokemon, or a Pokemon that is substantially weak until evolved. It was used as a marketing tool much like Pikachu, for the cuteness factor. Aside from learning a unique move or two, it is not particularly useful. In Melee, it was given a chance to redeem itself. In it, Pichu is the shadow of Pikachu, with a near-identical moveset, but with Pichu being slightly faster and more lightweight. It may seem good on paper, but in the end, Pichu turned out to be one of the worst Smash Bros. characters ever conceived. Why? Was it his range and set-up issues? Well, partially, however those issues are greatly overshadowed by the fact that he is the lightest character in the game who hurts himself with over half of his moveset. As if being the most vulnerable to knockback wasn't enough of an issue, he hurts himself by using fighting moves in a game revolving around fighting. Honestly, that would be like Mario hurting himself every time he jumped. If Pichu does somehow make it into SSB4, it better have a complete overhaul.

Random trivia: In Melee, Pichu does not have any favorable matchups, being either 50/50 or in favor of the opponent.

Peach Toad SSBM.png
Toad
9 Toad, Toad, Toad. Always on the sidelines, being the assistant. His only Smash Bros. relevance is a trophy and a move where he is used as a meat shield. The latter really says something about the character; does anyone really care about him? I never really liked the Toad character, with their off appearance and weird noises. I imagine if he was in Smash 4, he would be given a limited moveset, because he really has no defining traits aside from being a mindless caricature of loyalty to the kingdom. In conclusion, I find Toad to be a simple and uninteresting character, which was exactly what he was designed for. Coming from a series that already has plenty of representatives, if they ever need more characters, definitely not Toad.

Random trivia: Toad was originally known as the "Mushroom Retainer", which makes more sense than being named after an amphibious animal.

120px-Plusle_Minun.png
Plusle & Minun
9 Plusle & Minun are among the supposed beta characters, being among the unused character files in Brawl. Plusle and Minun are two Generation III Pokemon, introduced solely to promote the new double battle system and act as "cute" Pokemon. People speculate they were planned to be included as playable characters in Brawl, but were ultimately scraped for whatever reason. I have a hypothesis to this reason. You see, given the fact that the two are always seen together, and are saved under one character file, they would function like the Ice Climbers. In other words, Nintendo would be reusing their Ice Climbers gimmick, just with two Pichu clones. If they realized this and scrapped them, kudos to Nintendo for realizing their mistake.

Random fact: Their Red and Blue color schemes are thought to be a nod to the original Pokemon Red and Blue versions.

125px-Raiden.jpg
Raiden
10 Yes, Raiden, the dude who is basically the Terminator but with a ninja sword. Now, some of you may be asking, why not the sword wielding Raiden over the gun-touting Snake? Heck, they could even pull a Metal Gear Solid 2 on us, where we started out with Snake, but then play as Raiden for the next twenty hours. However, that would not work out because Raiden has never been featured in any Nintendo consoles thus far. But if we put that fact aside, let's look into the background of Raiden;

Raiden was born during a storm, hence his name translating to "thunder and lightning". Raiden is also the name of an aircraft used in WWII. Isn't that pretty cool? Unfortunately, his life goes downhill pretty early, as his backstory involves him becoming a child soldier and acquiring the nickname "Jack the Ripper". In his debut in Metal Gear Solid 2, he was intended to be open to beginners, which in turn made him repeat questions and act dumbfounded after every time someone speaks with him. This was annoying, as most of his dialogue becomes whiny or obvious. In addition, the fact that we play as Snake before the "tutorial" character completely invalidates the point of making Raiden dumbed down in the first place. In Raiden's later appearances, he is taken prisoner and becomes product of cybernetic experimentation. Now, he is a stoic, valiant swordsman who spends his free time slashing robots and humans in the year 2018. How could someone with such a twisted background be appropriate for Smash Bros.? Granted, Snake isn't clean either, but at least he has a sense of humor. Tasty.

100px-Darkpit_artnew.png
Shadow/Dark/Evil X
10 By far, the cheesiest fighting character concept ever is taking a character that already exists, coloring him/her darker, modifying some of his/her moves to make them "Evil", and offer it as a standalone character. Street Fighter is a victim to this, with the characters "Akuma" and "Evil Ryu" having a very similar moveset Ryu, just altered so they utilize darkness instead of chi. In Akuma's case, he's so dang evil that the darkness gives him the right to be completely overpowered and banned in some games. Honestly, as badass as these characters may or may not be, I think a color swap is just fine.

Notable suggestions for Dark characters include Dark Link, Dark Pit, and SA-X. SA-X is Samus' clone, with a virus, hunting down Samus in Metroid Fusion. I'm aware of the issue that Metroid could use some more representation, but a virus based clone isn't the way to go.

Geno
10 I haven't actually played Mario RPG, with all of my knowledge of it coming from Youtube videos and MarioWiki. Geno is a character featured in Mario RPG, and is a wooden doll blessed with star powers. He (it?) aids Mario with powerful magic attacks, such as the "Geno Whirl" for up to 9,999 points of damage. He's got quite a following, being included in many wish lists and rumored multiple times. However, there's a catch; Square owns Mario RPG, meaning any sequels or using of the elements in 'RPG needs Square's permission. Couldn't Nintendo just buy the rights and include Geno? Well, yes, but is that really necessary? One, Geno hasn't been relevant to Mario since 1996, only getting a cameo in one other game. Second, Mario has enough representatives, and if they need to include more, Nintendo shouldn't waste their time hounding Square for the rights.
80px-John-117_H4_Render.png
Master Chief
10 The Halo series is one of the better FPSs (FPSes?) out there, in my opinion; If you can get your hands on a copy of the original Combat Evolved, definitely go for it. The main character of this XBox exclusive series is none other than Master Chief, the green space marine who saves the galaxy time and time again from alien menace. He basically has a gun and shoots things. While they are quality FPSes, the transition from sci-fi shooter to fighting game would be rather awkward; First, Chief wouldn't be able to use his main rifle -- as seen with Snake, no assault rifles or even handguns allowed, unless they're cartoon-like (i.e. Fox's Blasters). As a result, he would be limited to his rocket launcher and grenades, like Snake, but no mortar to DACUS. Also, while Snake uses a variety of CQC training, I only see MC using a punch or elbow as a physical attack.

You could claim Nintendo should give give Chief a similar treatment to Samus, but doing so would seem like a redundancy. In conclusion, aside from the fact that his inclusion would seem like an endorsement from Microsoft, he wouldn't transition well and would be a novelty.

Random fact: Master Chief is armored green to symbolize the Xbox exclusiveness.Though in recent games, they over saturated the green to a gray. Modern shooters, why?

RidleyBrawl.jpg
RIDLEY
10 RIDLEY IS TOO BIG. THEY WOULD HAVE TO RESIZE HIM COMPLETELY OUT OF PROPORTION AND IT WOULD PROBABLY BE AWKWARD. HE IS A VERY GOOD BOSS, THOUGH, AND I BELIEVE HE SHOULD STAY THERE, OR AT LEAST BE AN ASSIST TROPHY. PLUS WE HAVE CHARIZARD. I WOULD LIKE METROID TO HAVE MORE REPRESENTATIVES BUT I DON'T THINK THIS IS THE WAY TO GO.
70px-Mii.png
Mii
10 I never really liked Miis; there isn't much you can do with them aside from inserting them in games in lieu of actual characters, and I got bored of making them within minutes upon the first time I got my Wii. I mean, yeah, I'll admit I made some Miis of some famous people and such, but overall they seem like a cheap alternative to actually developing a character, with their soulless faces and constant shoehorning into games outside of the Wii- series. Honestly, they appear like the basis for a character, but not the final product. Their inclusion would just be shoehorning and included just for the heck of adding an extra character.
Waddle dee.jpg
Waddle Dee
11 Waddle Dee? That guy who DDD tosses? You might be thinking, "What is the worst that could happen from Waddle Dee? He's practically harmless."

Think again. He breaks the game with one attack.

TL;DR I dislike shallow or gimmick people
