Am I hearing things, or is Villager saying "Thanks Tom" here? <small>—Preceding unsigned comment added by Laniv (talk • contribs) 10:41, 18 July 2014 (EDT)</small>
Am I hearing things, or is Villager saying "Thanks Tom" here?
:I will be damned. I hear it too. Aidan the Average Gamer (talk) 10:44, 18 July 2014 (EDT)
::That is creepy! Does he scream as he enters a Star KO? The Smash Brotha (talk) 12:25, 5 August 2014 (EDT)
:::Supposedly they also talk in this video, although I'm not sure I can hear it. Around 1:00 - 1:15 maybe? Did Villager actually have a voice before the game came out? User:TeddyBearYoshi (talk) 9:32, 20 May 2016 (EST)

The trivia section says that the Villager is the only newcomer to be on both the 3DS and Wii U versions, but isn't the fighter roster the exact same on both versions? 68.119.28.72 02:37, 28 September 2014 (EDT)
:You misread it. It's that he's the only newcomer on the cover art of both versions. == Ice Climbers Crowd Cheer ==

I think this needs further researching, because here, it states that the crowd cheers for the Ice Climbers against Dr. Mario, but on The Cutting Room Floor, it states that it is in the Murabito sound files. Arbd22 (talk) 23:34, 15 November 2014 (EST)
:Murabito is the Japanese name for the Villager... that might be why Kenniky 19:23, 8 December 2014 (EST)

In the special moves section it says that Balloon Trip does damage, which it definitely does not do. The article is semi-protected though; someone fix that? Kenniky 19:24, 8 December 2014 (EST)
:You are doubly mistaken. The custom variants of Balloon Trip do damage, but the default is correctly listed as doing 0%; additionally, the page isn't protected and hasn't been for nearly two months. ::Uh, Miles. In regards to at least the protection, it was lifted on the 6th of January, this post was made in December. Also, in December, Damage was listed for the move. Check the date next time. "Villager can longer pocket Sonic's spring." What does this mean? Can he pocket these items for a longer period of time, or is it supposed to say "can NO longer"? 70.68.71.94 19:01, 16 June 2015 (EDT)
:Fixed. It was supposed to be "no longer". Zyrac (talk) 19:21, 16 June 2015 (EDT)

The Villager's name
I noticed that the Villager is the only character (as far as I know) whose name in Japan is written in hiragana. (Viridi makes note of this in his Japanese Palutena's Guidance.) Are there any other characters who fit that bill? Laniv (talk) 20:19, 15 December 2015 (EST)

This was before Mewtwo was available. I've no idea how or why it happened, or if it's still possible. Is this worth mentioning anywhere? Unowninator (talk) 11:28, 29 December 2015 (EST)

"axe meme"
I don't condone the IP edit-warring over it, but I do agree that it should go. It's really not that notable, and the claim that the Bayo poster is referencing it is speculative and doubtful. Discussed here. <font color="dodgerblue"><span style="font-family:Verdana;">Miles <font color="silver">(<font color="silver">talk)</font></font></span></font> 14:23, 15 June 2016 (EDT)
:The Bayo one should go, yes, but I'd have to dispute your claim that the Killager meme isn't notable. Multiple meme sites have Killager mentioned, a Google search of "Killager" produces 17,600 results, and it's also mentioned in several combo videos, even by some notable smashers themselves if I recall correctly. While it's nowhere near as notable as Captain Falcon in general in terms of memes, it's grown to become a very well-known meme among the Smash community, which is why I don't just let the IP have their way. <span style="color:Green; text-shadow: 0px 0px 3px green">Disaster</span> <span style="color:Blue;text-shadow:0px 0px 3px blue">Flare</span> <span style="color:SkyBlue;text-shadow:0px 0px 3px skyblue">(talk)</span> 14:39, 15 June 2016 (EDT)
::Bumping this. Again, the edit warring is ridiculous, but if the only justification for it is "it was widespread for a little bit" that's not really enough. :::It's probably the most widespread, well-known, and memorable meme of SSB4 and it hasn't really stopped, just slowed down a lot in terms of referencing but still well-established among the community. MuteSpittah (talk) 15:06, 10 July 2016 (EDT)

It says that Villager has the most sex kicks, but Link is tied with him and Pac-Man has more than him according to the sex kick page Veledwin1 (talk) 21:08, May 21, 2019 (EDT)

His Name is Incorrect
In Smash, why is this character called "Villager?" In Animal Crossing, the Villagers are the animal characters that you interact with. Shouldn't he instead be called "Player?"--Dogleader (talk) 09:34, December 6, 2021 (EST)
:First off, conversations should be further down the talk page the more recent they are.
:Second, they probably went with "Villager" since it's a much less generic identifier for the Animal Crossing player character than just simply "Player" (which could literally apply to other avatar fighters such as Hero, Pokémon Trainer, or Inkling), though that's still just speculation.
