:'''Support''' Some characters, assist and fighter, don’t use newer art as it differs to what it’s based on. Drastic or minor. Take Samus for example. Her suit is different in the various Metroid games, but we use the ones it’s “based” on. Same goes for Zelda characters. The only Gen 7 reference is the Miis used in the presentation. The hair isn’t part of the costume, it’s part of the Mii. The Rocket Grunts have grey on their costume which matches the art of the Gen 3 remakes. They are white in the Gen 7 remakes. That’s difference enough. Just like Samus’ suit, which have either minor or drastic differences. Mario has the art with Cappy because Cappy is a taunt. Why not just have both Gen 3 and Gen 7 because of the presentation? If not, isn’t the game art suppose to match their Smash appearances? ::I '''oppose''' as well. Like SST said, the difference is way too small for the change anyways. Plus, it's pretty clear that the developers were going the LGPE route in the trailer, with Pikachu and Eevee appearing (as well as Mewtwo, but that's just a reference to the Mewtwo-Rocket theory) and the designs of the grunts looking similar to the LGPE iterations.

In this case, the difference is very minimal so it shouldn't matter much. :::::Skyward Sword Link and Pokémon Masters Red don’t appear in Smash, and neither does Let’s Go Rocket Grunts. “Mii Designs” have nothing to do with the costumes themselves. The “Miis” being of Let’s Go has no baring on the fact the costumes are based on FireRed and LeafGreen, just like Pokémon Trainer. Miis themselves do not determine what the costumes are based on. The Miis used in the presentation are referencing Let’s Go, but the hair isn’t included in the costume. If they were, then it would have been Let’s Go. The art is different, and different enough for it to be changed so that it matches what is used in Smash. Which, according to CookiesCream, is a set rule. Aren’t we suppose to follow those? (reset indent; apologies for bumping this) The Mii designs are, as far as the wiki's concerned, the official designs for these Mii costumes, due to being used in the various promotional videos and images. This is why we use them on the costume pages, like this one. In theory, the origin images should match these promotional designs as closely as possible. In practice, this is the first time the distinction has come up, because the only other Mii costume based on a generic NPC class rather than a distinct character is [[Martial Artist]].
