While I cannot find any concrete evidence of that, Masahiro Sakurai has discussed about translucent mini-maps [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Fhj07C1ou0 in a video] from June 2023. In there, he says he liked it and would even mention the ''{{iw|mdfw|Mystery Dungeon}}'' series as the "one series that's really stuck with him" for this mechanic. You can also see, in the same video, an example of it in ''{{iw|mdfw|Mystery Dungeon 2: Shiren the Wanderer}}''. I wonder if the ''Mystery Dungeon'' franchise was the inspiration for the Radar in ''[[Super Smash Bros. Ultimate]]''.
