At least this Pikachu is definitely male (as well as his SSB4 counterpart). Pikachu has gender differences for a reason, and only male Pikachus look like that, and both Brawl and SSB4 came after gender-differences were introduced (although Melee and SSB Pikachu could be female). Additionally, he's based off of either Red's or Ash's Pikachu, both of which are male (except Red's Pikachu in B2W2, which ''can'' be female, but again, only if it has a part in its tail). I don't think there are any official sources that call him an it. What's your reasoning to assume he could be either gender? :I used to think that way. But then I realized it would be weird to refer to SSB/Melee Pikachu as 'it' and Brawl/SSB4 as 'him'. For example, what would we do on the Pikachu page, where it refers to all his game appearances? As for other games (Pikachu (SSBB), Pikachu (SSB4)), I think they stuck with the no indent tail for consistency.''[[User:Qwerty|Qwerty]] ''[[User talk:Qwerty|(talk)]] 16:14, 1 September 2014 (EDT) | :I used to think that way.
