Would it be alright to expand the various articles on the Pokémon to include an origin section, which can include its roles in its games, its debut, number, and the attack it uses? I'll make an example for Blastoise:

Blastoise, #009 in the National Pokédex, is a Water-type Pokémon that first appeared in Generation I of the series, evolving from Wartortle starting at level 36. :I don't think it's a bad idea in theory, but what you put for Blastoise is much too long, and contains too much information not pertinent to the wiki. Just by taking your text and cutting it, this is what I would get:

Moreover, this is less useful as its own section and more just an expanded introduction paragraph (which right now are among the worst content on the wiki anyway). It would appear that only some of the Poké Ball Pokémon actually have an origin section, and most of these fail to go in depth about the Pokémon in question. I think a short blurb about the Pokémon would be a nice thing to add, but it does seem like a little bit too much to cover for the Wiki's scope. :It's appropriate to have a short blurb, yes, but the key word is short. Basically, gen of origin, any significant role in the plot/story, or other brief notes are okay. It just shouldn't turn into a copy-paste of Pokedex entries or of extraneous info better left to Bulbapedia. Being the Pokémon fanatics that we are, we were wondering if it would be okay if we re-vamped the Pokémon articles to make them more uniform. I have a question to go along with this: Why is it that Charmander has a page, but Porygon doesn't? I know their only appearance was on the Saffron City stage (but Charmander does have trophies...) Does anyone else think we should include a section for Pokémon that are only mentioned in passing? :::As I've said in a few discussions before, the problem with "mentioned-only" stuff is that there's no guarantee it's gonna translate into every language possible, and it's possible there may be more Pokémon mentioned in the series that aren't mentioned at all in the English versions of any of the games.
:::This is why I'm against stuff like giving a ''Smash'' game-related article icon to a character just because they're mentioned in that game, adding Chronicle-only universes on the minor universes pages, and non-gaming media that is only verbally/textually referenced (Like the reference to ''Jaws'' in Piranha Plant's French Boxing Ring title) on Disaster Flare's "List of non-gaming media" sandbox.
