:::Assuming the game does not get patched frequently, the competitive potential of a character is an objective quality, not a subjective one. With that in mind, most competitive players will agree that Falco is trash. The bulk of his neutral game in previous games consisted of using lasers to make his approaches safe. Now that his lasers have landing lag, he can no longer do this. As such he has a very weak neutral game, given the fact that his moves have very punishable endlag and he lacks Fox's movement. Falco has a new edgeguarding weapon on Falco Phantasm: as it no longer leaves Falco helpless, when he grabs the edge and lets go without fast-falling, he can use it to edgeguard opponents if they are low enough. Too bad for Little Mac.
