'''RAIN''' ({{ja|レイン|RAIN}}) is an East Japan smasher who is widely known in the Japanese ''Smash'' scene.

RAIN began his Smash career playing {{SSBM|Fox}} in [[Melee]] at the [[Jack Garden Tournament]] notably beating {{Sm|Bombsoldier}} in the winners bracket.

In ''[[Brawl]]'', he mains {{SSBB|Meta Knight}}. In 2010, RAIN traveled to the United States to compete at [[Apex 2010]]. He placed 7th after losing to {{Sm|Lee Martin}} and {{Sm|Ally}}. In 2011, he competed at [[GENESIS 2]] and placed 17th. He later attended [[Apex 2012]], placing 13th after losing to {{Sm|ESAM}} and {{Sm|DEHF}}, and he also notably provided Japanese commentary for {{Sm|Otori}}'s and {{Sm|Nietono}}'s set at grand finals. One of his biggest achievements in Smash came months later, where he won Japan's first international ''Super Smash Bros. Brawl'' tournament, [[Sun Rise Tournament]], defeating top players such as {{Sm|Mikeneko}}, Otori, and {{Sm|Vinnie}}.

In ''[[SSB4]]'', he mains {{SSB4|Bayonetta}}, with {{SSB4|Cloud}} and {{SSB4|Diddy Kong}} as strong secondaries, and used to main {{SSB4|Sheik}} before update [[1.1.5]] nerfed her. He was considered to be the best Sheik player in Japan and one of the best in the world when he mained her, with notable placings such as a 9th placing at [[EVO 2015]]. He was also one of the most dominant forces in the [[Umebura (tournament series)|Umebura]] series of tournaments, with a streak of four consecutive wins in singles from [[Umebura 13]] until [[Umebura 18]]. He is currently ranked 24th on the [[JAPAN Power Rankings|JAPAN Smash 4 Power Rankings]] and 66th on the [[PGR 100|Panda Global Rankings 100]].

RAIN is known for his ability to understand a player's habits after having played them multiple times (commonly known as [[read|downloading]]) and exploiting these habits to his advantage. As a result, RAIN does much better in Japanese tournaments than when he travels internationally. He is currently ranked 30th on the [[JAPAN Power Rankings]]. He has also competed in ''Melee'' in the past, and was ranked 2nd on the 2010 [[Kansai Melee Ranking Battles]].
