Despite being newer and having much less units sold than its predecessor, the Nintendo Switch 2 has become a common sight at ''Ultimate'' tournaments. The previously mentioned benefits to using the newer hardware has made it an attractive option for players and spectators alike. That being said, a reliable way to mod the console has not been found yet, meaning that scene has yet to migrate over.

There are some logistical hurdles with using a Nintendo Switch 2 at tournaments, especially when both generations are used in the same venue. Some players may have controllers or other peripherals that are only compatible with one console and not the other, causing the users to cause disruptions in the tournament or even being considered forfeit via the rules. Also, the fundamentally different experiences both consoles provide may negatively impact the performance and placings of players who are used to playing on one and not the other. The only real solution is to forbid the mixing of the console generations at a tournament, but there is no major documented incident of such extreme measures being taken, and the problem mitigates itself day by day as more Nintendo Switch 2 units are in circulation and dropping the previous generation becomes more feasible.
