This is a duplicate of this screenshot I uploaded; which should be deleted?[edit]

I uploaded the file linked in the header 'cause I saw it on the Smash Dojo but couldn't find it on the wiki. I spent about half an hour looking for the screenshot on the wiki, looking in places like SSBB Link's gallery, Category:Link (SSBB), and Category:Down special moves (SSBB), and I didn't see it, so I uploaded the file and didn't get a Duplicate warning. This is because the original file uploaded is the low resolution version displayed in the article, while the one I uploaded is the higher-resolution version you get by clicking on the image. I only discovered this error by chance by looking on Bomb (Link).

Which should I add the {{Delete}} banner to? If they were the same, I'd say to keep this one since it's older, but it's of a noticeably inferior quality. The way I see it there are 4 options:

  • Delete this one, keep the one I uploaded.
  • Delete the other one, keep this one.
  • Delete the other one, and "Upload a new version of this file" to this file article using the higher-resolution version from the website.
  • Do nothing, and let the files coexist since they're, technically speaking, not strict duplicates.

PS - What should be done about the other Smash Bros. Dojo screenshots which have been uploaded as their lower-resolution versions? For example, File:Gale.jpg and File:Clawshot.jpg are 250 x 205, while the high resolution versions on the Dojo are 400 x 329. Mariogeek2 (talk) 23:08, June 29, 2025 (EDT)

Having the higher quality/resolution on would be better in most contexts, so either option 1 or 3. For the other ones you can upload the higher res ones as new versions. --CanvasK (talk) 07:03, June 30, 2025 (EDT)
I went with option 1, since that seemed to me like the least headache (New upload is used in 2 articles as opposed to 1, plus has a summary & correct categories.) I can swap it if another administrator weighs in.
(EDIT) I forgot to mention, the file I uploaded also matches the naming convention of File:Link Bomb SSB.png and File:Link Bomb SSB4.jpeg. That's another reason.
