The player controls {{SSBM|Marth}} and must win a 2 [[stock]] match against {{SSBM|Link}} on the [[Temple]] stage (with the ''Fire Emblem'' musical theme played as the [[alternate music]]). The CPU Link's [[artificial intelligence]] is set at Level 9.

When the match starts, Marth will spawn on the left side of the center of the stage, while Link spawns on the right side of the center of the stage.
