'''Chūbu ''' is a ''Smash'' region comprised of five prefectures. These prefectures include Aichi, Gifu, Nagano, Shizuoka, and Yamashi and sometimes Mie. Traditionally, the region would also include the [[Hokuriku]] region; however Hokuriku is often separated as a ''Smash'' region due to its relative isolation. 

Chūbu is typically regarded as the third most significant Japanese region in Smash. The most prominent tournaments typically occur in the Aichi prefecture, around the Nagoya metropolitan area.  The region hosted one of the earliest notable  ''Smash 64'' and ''Melee'' tournament series known as the {{Trn|Japan United Smash Festa Round-Robin}}. Out of this era rose players like {{Sm|Sigurd}}, a high level {{SSBM|Marth}}, and {{Sm|Smasher}}. Since then several other notable series have developed in the region including {{Trn|Karisuma}}, {{Trn|Gifu smash}} and {{Trn|EVISUMA}}. Karisuma, directed by {{Sm|Isotaku}}, in particular has gained notoriety for the talent it attracts. 

While Chūbu was unable to keep pace with [[Kantō]] and {{b|Kansai|region}} with later games, the region still saw the development of significant talent. ''Brawl'' saw the rise of many of the regions's most famous players including {{Sm|DIO}}, {{Sm|Earth}}, {{Sm|Fuwa}}, {{Sm|Sigma}},{{Sm|Taiheita}}, {{Sm|Tsu~ Summer}}, {{Sm|Uto}}, and {{Sm|YB}}. Earth, in particular, would become known as the world's strongest [[Pit]] player in both ''Brawl'' and ''Smash 4'' and would be regarded as among the strongest Japanese players. Smash 4 also saw players like {{Sm|Hatsuyuki}}, {{Sm|ikep}} and {{Sm|Lv.1}} develop a reputation as some of the top players at their characters.
