Toon Link (トゥーンリンク, Tūn Rinku) is a playable character in Super Smash Bros. 4. He was announced on the official website on September 26th, 2013. Toon Link was announced on the release date of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD in Japan. He retains equipment exclusive to The Wind Waker version of Toon Link, such as the Master Sword, Hero's Shield, and Wind Waker. In addition to being a playable character, Link from The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks appears in a similar cel-shaded style in the background of the Spirit Train stage.
Changes from Brawl
Toon Link appears to be majorly buffed from Brawl to SSB4, in terms of both power and speed. A few nerfs have been made.
Toon Link is slightly heavier than in Brawl.- Toon Link appears to dash faster.
- Hookshot grab has significantly less ending lag, and follows a straight path like Link's hookshot in Super Smash Bros.[1] It can also latch on to ledges from a much greater distance.
- His grab aerial comes out much faster.
- Up throw has less base knockback.
- Hero's Bow charges faster and travels further charged.
- Boomerang travel a longer distance.
- Forward smash and up tilt have been sped up.
Down throw has higher knockback growth, limiting its use at higher percentages.- Down aerial now goes straight down through opponents, rather than bouncing off them when contact is made.
Spin Attack now has a green sword trail.- Down smash's first hit has higher knockback growth, limiting the move's damage racking utility but enhancing its KO power.
- Side taunt now shows Toon Link looking at a fairy.[2]

Special Moves
In Super Smash Bros. 4, special moves can be swapped out for different variants, but Toon Link's have yet to be seen. He retains his original special moves. These are Toon Link's special moves:

Trophy
Toon Link's trophy has been seen in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS. In addition to a trophy of Toon Link's normal appearance, trophies of Toon Link in his Engineer outfit, and of him playing the Spirit Flute, appear in the 3DS version.
