Zero Suit Samus is a playable character confirmed for Super Smash Bros. 4. Unlike in Brawl, she will be a completely separate character from Samus, and is no longer able to transform into the other under any circumstance (and vice versa). Her aesthetic design, like her armored form, is mainly based on her appearance in Metroid: Other M, though she still retains her hair from Zero Mission. Additionally, she is now also equipped with jet boots and some metal bracelets have been added to her model, but it is unknown what the latter's purpose might be.

Confirmed information

  • She wears jet boots, which visibly flare during her kicking attacks, and it has been stated to buff the power of her kicking attacks.
  • She will appear as a separate character, rather than the result of the Zero Laser.
  • The following moves appear visually unchanged:
    • Forward tilt
    • Up tilt
    • Neutral aerial
    • Forward aerial
    • Back aerial
    • Down taunt
    • Flip Jump
  • Zero Suit Samus appears to have a new Up Special, where she performs a dive kick that goes upwards. When used on opponents she performs a powerful upward kick, then a spin kick to send them flying.

Trivia

  • Though not necessarily the origin of the idea for her new design, Samus wearing jet boots (enabling flight and close-range bursts of energy) in her Zero Suit was done in Monty Oum's battle-crossover video Haloid while fighting with Spartan-458 (Nicole) from Dead or Alive 4 & Halo. Albeit, they were from the Power Suit itself, after it was broken.
