Mii Fighters in Classic Mode

If the Mii Fighters are no longer playable in Classic Mode, then why are there fighter spirits of the Mii Fighters? It makes absolutely no sense as to why the Miis would be playable in Free-For-Alls and World of Light, but not Classic Mode.
