I think he's considered a background character because he doesn't affect the characters themselves. Sure, he spins the stage, but if his model was removed from the stage in who-knows-what way, the stage would still spin, right?Tepig (talk) 18:08, 26 July 2014 (EDT)

He's a stage hazard. Spinning the stage will affect what the characters are standing on, therefore affect the characters.Qwerty 18:18, 26 July 2014 (EDT)
