Spring Jump is Sonic's Up B move. Sonic summons a spring from the Sonic Series, then uses it to leap very high into the air. If Spring Jump is used on the ground, the spring will remain on-stage for a while, allowing other characters to use it, too.

Spring Jump is Sonic's Up B, which allows him to use a classic Spring from the Sonic series to recover vertically. When used on the ground, the spring is left behind and other characters are able to use it.  It covers a lot of vertical distance, and it takes you a moment to gain your horizontal momentum back. It is one of the only recovery moves that doesn't allow you to grab the edge in the middle of the move (i.e. auto-sweetspoting), only after you come out of your rising animation (which ends a little bit before you reach the apex). Another notable difference between this and the rest of the cast's recovery move is that after you use it, you are still free to do aerials and SOME moves (you can't do most of his special moves after).  You can, however, air dodge or do any aerials you want.
