Hylian, also commonly known as Hylian88 on Gamefaqs is a Texas smasher that has been playing competitively since 2004. He is one of the most knowledgeable players in the smash community, using many techniques that are not well known. He is known to use a variety of characters in tournament but considers himself a Fox/Samus main.
Background
Hylian entered the competitive smash scene in 2004 getting last place at 3rd Coast Gaming Invitational where he had to play DSF first round. Since then he played with friends going to a few tournaments but not improving too much, just gaining knowledge on the game. He has been going to the GameFAQ boards since 2003 and is a well known poster there. In late 2005/early 2006 he started playing with other Austin smashers and improved greatly. He played marth from 2003-2006 then dropped him for Fox once he learned how to waveshine. Soon after that he discovered that he was naturally good with samus and decided to pick up her to main as well switching from Marth/Fox to Samus/Fox. While he spent time learning specific techniques and honing his tech skill he made his first real tournament impact at HOST(Houston's official smash tournament) in 2006. He was still relatively unknown at this point but at this tournament he placed 13th out of 70 participants in singles and 9th in teams. After this tournament most people considered him the best samus player in texas though recently other samus players have surpassed him.
Hylian has a natural talent for technical skill, and is considered one of the most technical players in texas. He is famous for his ability to control Fox's SHDL. He invented a new way to laser, which is moving in the air while lasering without dashing. "Weaving" is a technique he popularized which uses this method of lasering to move back and fourth in a flashy display of tech skill. At Melee FC Diamond, he showed players such as DaShizWiz, Mew2King, and Silent Wolf this technique but none of them could preform it well. Since then he has been dubbed "Best SHDL user in the World" by Silent Wolf.
While Hylian is known for his fox, more people tend to view him as a Samus main. This is because of his natural talent for Samus, and incredible knowledge of the character. He claims to have the fastest Samus in the world, and so far has not been disproved. Some say he is more technical with Samus then Phanna though they have no way to prove this as they have never played.
Hylian is also infamous for inventing useless techniques in this game. A few of the tech's he found are: Weaving, Grapple-Dropping, and FireDashing.
Hylian tends to love money match's. At almost every tournament he attends he usually has a list of at least $100 worth of money match's. He post frequently on gamefaqs and smashboards and is often challenged to them.
Despite Hylian's decent performance in singles(He generally places top 10 in any texas tournament he attends), he is known to be astoundingly good at teams. No matter who he is teaming with he usually places top 5 in any tournament he attends in teams. He claims to have a wide range of focus and the ability to think very quickly which helps him greatly while playing team match's.
