Smasher:Aphelion

Formerly known as "Rock Howard", Aphelion is an active old member of Ultra Violence Crew. He is also known in forums as Igneosanctum or Rock Prog.

Background

Aphelion is a Mexican Smasher; he doesn't really have a main character although known for using Fox, Marth and Peach. He is very skilled with the all the characters.

He has great technical skill, some people thinks that he can only do that; but he's still unable to show people his true strength, because when he goes to tournaments, he doesn't sleep, or he gets some stomach ache. Fun fact is that he thinks of "silly words" when playing (example: "Jelly", all the time), supposedly to focus in the match.

He seems angry all the time, but he is actually friendly.

Style

One of the fastest Smashers out there. But often diminished by people because seemingly, Aphelion can only be fast. That is a lie or just misunderstanding. His true skill is still unrecorded. He is practicing for future tournaments, to become a better player and travel to USA before SSBM "dies".

Aphelion relies in hit-and-run strategies and combos. His style isn't really effective, because he started his style being complex, he didn't really learn the "basic style", that's because he can do well against complex opponents and do play really bad against newbies.

He has a weird "controller stance", similar to arcade, followed by DAI and Anbu no Kakashi, but originally started by DynaDASH.

Achievements

• Won a 2v2 Tournament. Teaming with 1233.
• 1st place in the second mini-tournament in September 2006, involving Team Magma and Reed, beating Kaos' Jigglypuff in the final match.
• 2nd place in the first mini-tournament in September 2006, involving Team Magma and Reed, Aphelion lost to Reed in the finals.

Achieved a 3rd place in local tournament after recovering in Loser's Bracket (I note this, because his recovery was highly unexpected, facing great players like Kitsune Marl or 1233)

High-ranked in many tournaments, bad performance due to illness or bad sleep.

There aren't many videos of him, only a Combo Video and few Matches in YouTube.

His debut was in "Massacre Machine", a Fox Combo Video, having a great welcome in the community, because of actually having "combos" and being really different to the famouse "Shined Blind" of Zelgadis, though often compared, Aphelion and many people keep telling that Zelgadis is really better.

Random Stuff

• Recently, when he returned from a trip from Cuernavaca and Federal District, he decided to change his nickname to "Aphelion", in homage to a character in Radiata Stories, a game higly praised by DAI and DynaDASH.
• The fictional character Aphelion is also known as "Silver Dragon" or "Lucian" in Square-Enix's tri-Ace title "Radiata Stories", Rock used Aphelion as nickname because the Silver Dragon saved humankind instead of destroy'em as he was supposed to do, giving a second chance.
• Aphelion is fan of Progressive Rock, he can be found using "Prog" sometimes, but rarely "Jazz".
• Supposedly to be successor of DynaDASH, Aphelion sometimes used her nickname, but he decided to follow his own path and have no main character.
• Instead of rending homage to Dyna with the nickname, he uses Igneosanctum in forums (Igneosanctum is the last name of one of the fictional characters created by Dyna).
• Rock Howard is also a character in "Garou Densetsu: Mark of the Wolves" and "The King of Fighters".
• Due to his weird controller stance, people thinks he's good because of that, the same goes for DAI, Anbu and Dyna. The truth is that he can't just play standard.
• He supposedly picks a black Marth to homage Shun.
