Administrators can block users and individual IP addresses. Blocked users will still be able to read the wiki, but will not be able to edit or upload files.

Users are encouraged to make constructive edits to contribute to the usefulness, validity, and depth of SmashWiki. Behavior such as the following, however, is not allowed:
Users can be blocked for many reasons. In general, blocks are given for:
* Vandalism of any kind.
*repeated vandalism
* Derogatory edits or comments directed at others on any page, in any namespace.
*breaking policies
* Aggressive behavior toward other editors or otherwise hindering our ability to encourage contributions.
*adding pages that are copyright violations.
* Adding or removing of content to a page after being directed not to by an administrator.
* Repeated violation of policies, such as the image upload policy, or submitting copyrighted works without permission.

Users who violate these rules may be warned by an administrator any number of times (including zero). If violations continue, the administrator may block the user from editing for any period of time.
Admins are advised to give a warning to people before banning them. It is also advisable to have a working email address in your preferences so you can be contacted by a user affected by a block if necessary. Most blocks should be for 24 hours. IP blocks expire after 24 hours unless you choose a longer time period.

Blocks themselves do not apply outside of SmashWiki. However, in certain cases, a user may have his account banned on Smash World Forums in addition to being blocked on SmashWiki. Any user who is banned on the forums is also not permitted to edit SmashWiki.
If you feel you have been unfairly blocked, please contact the admin who blocked you. Tell them what IP you are using. This information is shown on the page that tells you that you are blocked. A list of admins can be found by going to the Special:Listadmins page.

In addition, per SWF policy, users are not permitted to hold more than one account, even if one of their accounts has been banned or blocked.

Administrators can block users and individual IP addresses. Blocked users will still be able to read the wiki, but will not be able to edit or upload files.

Users can be blocked for many reasons. In general, blocks are given for:

Admins are advised to give a warning to people before banning them. It is also advisable to have a working email address in your preferences so you can be contacted by a user affected by a block if necessary. Most blocks should be for 24 hours. IP blocks expire after 24 hours unless you choose a longer time period.

If you feel you have been unfairly blocked, please contact the admin who blocked you. Tell them what IP you are using. This information is shown on the page that tells you that you are blocked. A list of admins can be found by going to the Special:Listadmins page.

Vandal bots

Since a vandalbot may be attacking other Wikia too, it should be blocked as soon as possible. If you see one, try to contact a staff member in the Wikia IRC channel. See this page for more details.

Proxies

Anonymous or open proxies should usually be blocked. You can set the timestamp for "indefinite".

Try not to block ISP proxies since this would affect a wide number of users.

Range blocks

Range blocks are not recommended unless you need to deal with severe and prolonged vandalism from a particular range, and you are very sure what these mean and how to use them. It is advised that you report these problems and the use, or intended use, of range blocking on the Community Portal.
