Shield grab

Because in Melee, the grab button is Z or R/L and A, one can grab directly out of shield-simply by shielding then hitting A. This is a very basic defensive manouvre with many ways around it, not in the least of which are cross-ups and/or shuffles. However it is still effective when used in the right situation; certain characters grabs are so good it is often worth the attempt even if it fails.
