Ryota Hayami is the main racer of Nintendo's Wave Race series of games. As of now, he is merely seen as a trophy in Super Smash Bros. Melee.

Ryota Hayami cameos in Melee in the form of a trophy. The trophy is one of the 164 trophies that is acquirable through the Trophy Lottery and is found occasionally throughout the single-player modes Classic, Adventure, and All-Star. Therefore, the player should acquire it sooner or later.
