Paper Bowser is a recurring character of the Paper Mario series, only to be the main villian in the first game, while in Super Paper Mario, he was Mario's ally. In Paper Mario, Bowser steals the Star Rod from the Star Spirits to cast invulnerability on himself and create virtually infinite wishes to defeat Mario and win Princess Peach's heart. Bowser was unsucessful, and he was defeated by Mario using the power of the Star Spirits. In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, Princess Peach was kidnapped, but not by Bowser. Shocked, Bowser attempted to collect the Crystal Stars to kidnap Peach for his own, also failing here. In Super Paper Mario, Bowser becomes an ally with Mario and his party. He is a fully playable character in this game. He works together with his arch-enemies to prevent Count Bleck from creating an interdimensional rift to destroy the universe. Bowser and his party members eventually succeed and halt Count Bleck.
