Electrode (マルマイン, Marumain, Marumine in original Japanese language versions) is a Pokémon that appears out of a Poké Ball.

Appearance

Electrode is a ball-shaped Pokémon that is the evolved form of Voltorb. Electrode has the same exact colors of a Poké Ball and often times can be confused for one. They also have a menacing grin with infuriating eyes. Electricity is stored inside the bodies of Electrodes and will explode on contact with an object or explode on it's own.

Function

Super Smash Brothers

Electrodes do not appear out of Poké Balls in SSB but appear in the stage of Saffron City. The Electrodes in Saffron City will pop out from the door on the side pf the building when a character approaches the door. Electrode then will Explosion as it's attack after a few seconds of it's appearance. Any character that is caught in the blast radius of Electrode will take damage.

Super Smash Brothers Melee

Electrode makes an appearance once again in Melee. Electrode is both used as an item and appears out of a Poké Ball. The attack Electrode uses in this game is identical the attack of Electrode's in SSB. When Electrode comes out of the Poké Ball, it will just sit on the stage. Electrode will then start to get darker. This means that Electrode is about to explode. When Electrode explodes, everyone in the blast radius (including the character who summoned Electrode) will take heavy damage that is almost equal to a Bob-omb. The explosion from Electrode may even KO characters at a low percentage. Electrode's attack harms any character (including the summoner). Electrode can be used as an item also. When Electrode is about to explode and turn black, any character can pick it up with the Z button. The character that is holding Electrode must be fast when they dispose of Electrode. If Electrode explodes while any character is trying to pick it up, then that character will take damage a long with any other character in the explosion radius.

Electrode also appears in the event match Bomb Fest. Electrode is the only Pokémon that comes out of the Poké Ball in this event match. Electrode can also be used at any time through the Debug menu with the use of an Action Replay.
