A Cross-up is a technique emphasized in the older days of smash. A cross-up is merely dash attacking (or shffling) so at the end of the move, one is behind the opponent. This avoids shield grabs, which is the main idea behind its use. Samus' and Sheik's dash attacks are great for cross-ups.
