Bat dropping (abv. BD) is a technique used in the Home Run Contest minigame to achieve very high scores. It is esentially the act of dropping the bat over the sandbag, and then hitting the bag with a move that wouldn't send the bag flying normally, usually a spike. When combined with fastfalling, L-canceling, and airgrabbing, you can pull off many bat drops in a short period of time.

A very basic bat drop would be Captain Falcon's, which involves dropping the bat over sandbag by pressing Z, and then pressing Down and A. The spike should hit the bag right after the bat, the bag shouldn't move, and the bat should bounce up into the air a little bit. You can now jump, grab the bat out of the air with Z, drop it again, and repeat. Once you start adding the L-Cancels and fastfalls, you can achieve amazing scores.

Not all characters have to use ADA, such as Mario AFA, Yoshi AFA, and Falco AUA. The timing for every character is also different. Some characters have moves that come out instantly, some characters jump really high, etc. So the timing for catching, dropping, and attacking varies with each character.
