The '''Screw Attack''' (スクリューアタック, ''Sukuryu Atakku'') item alters a character's first and second jumps, changing them to mimic [[Samus Aran]]'s [[Up Special Move]] (for which the item is named). If thrown at an enemy, they will be knocked upwards in a [[Screw Attack (move)|Screw Attack]], dragging any nearby opponents (even the thrower) into the attack. They then fall down as if they had used a recovery move. Many players use this in a sort of Pseudo-combo with a constantly damaging Up-B attack, most notably Samus' Up- B of the same name.

The Screw Attack was an upgrade Samus could add to her power suit in the Metroid games. It debuted as an item in Super Smash Bros. Melee.
