I think Sora air jump may be higher than what the parameters suggest. If Sora really did have an air jump height of 40 he would have the same overall jump height as Sonic(70). But on the custom stage I tested Sora’s combined jump height on he was able to make it up 8 platforms by jumping then air jumping. Sonic was only able to make it up 7 doing the same. Therefore, I believe Sora’s air jump height may be 50 rather than 40, as Sora barely made it up 3 platforms by only using his first jump.
