Manaphy (マナフィ, Manafi) made its debut in the 9th Pokémon Movie, Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea, and is thought to be the Prince of the Sea Pokémon alluded to in the title of the Japanese movie. It was the 6th Pokémon of the fourth generation to be revealed by CoroCoro magazine. It was revealed alongside the silhouettes of three other Pokémon: Mantyke, Buizel, and Chatot.

Creature description
1-in a Stock Match, make Manaphy Appear
Manaphy are blue blob-like Pokémon vaguely representing a clione. They have two long antennae extending from atop their head. At the end of these antennae are round objects that resemble a ball. Manaphy can use their antennae to use Heart Swap and switch people's energy. They also have jewel-like markings on their stomachs, one large red gem and a very small yellow gem. Information provided by the Pokedex states that a Manaphy is born on a cold seafloor, and will swim great distances to return to its birthplace. It is born with a wondrous power that lets it bond with any kind of Pokémon. Because water makes up 80% of its body, it is easily affected by its environment.

The Manaphy in the movie Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea was able to say certain words and sentences. In Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, Manaphy is only obtainable by either trading one from Pokémon Ranger or by receiving one from a special event that was held at Toys R' Us. If the player breeds a Manaphy with a Ditto in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, a new Pokémon named Phione will be conceived. This makes Manaphy the only legendary Pokémon to breed and produce offspring, although Phione does not evolve into Manaphy.
2-Make Manaphy switch your body with a character with 1 Stock
In Super Smash Bros Brawl
Manaphy appears from its Poké Ball and uses Heart Swap, it's signature move, temporarily swapping the players bodies. During the heart swap you keep your own damage and lives, if a Pokéball is summoned, it will continue to attack it's target, even after the Heart Swap ends, and a self-destruct causes you to lose a life rather than your opponent. Two players need to be close to Manaphy in order for the Heart Swap to take effect. This is the rarest of all Pokémon to appear in the game except for Mew, Celebi and Jirachi, who appear 1/493 of the time and drop collectibles.

3-KO Them Before Switching back
A Seafaring Pokémon. Eighty percent of its body is made of water. It has the ability Hydration, which allows it to heal status effects at the end of a turn if it's raining. It is the only Pokémon that can use the stat-effect-swapping move called Heart Swap. Place a Manaphy and a Ditto in a Pokémon Day Care, and they will produce an Egg that contains a Phione.
