Assist Trophies[edit]
You are correct that Smash 4 only allows 1 Assist Trophy at a time and thus listing AT conflicts is pointless. I even made sure not to list them on Devil yesterday because of that... which then slipped my mind today. Thanks for catching that.
On Flies & Hand, I used the name instead of "they" because "they" was already used as a pronoun for "the following items" and figured it would be confusing if I used "they" again. Same deal with Squid Sisters. --CanvasK (talk) 11:18, April 12, 2025 (EDT)
- That make senses. To be honest, I was actually more focused on the "is active" part since it didn't take into account that the AT was technically multiple characters (I guess you could argue the hand is the main focus, but I think it's better to treat the AT as a multiple-in-one deal tbh); I changed "Flies & Hand" to "they" just to be consistent with the other articles. 🧥The Jacketed Terrapin🐢 11:30, April 12, 2025 (EDT)
Using outdated character artwork[edit]
In your edit summary, you mentioned that we don't use character artwork in infoboxes which was released after the latest Smash game. I'm kind of confused by this, because I've never heard of such a rule before, and it isn't mentioned anywhere in SW:IMAGE, which only prohibits using fanart or edited images, not official artwork that was released after the latest game. It doesn't really make sense to do it that way either, because the general character pages, unlike fighter pages, are about the character as a whole, not just the character as they appeared in Super Smash Bros. Is this rule mentioned somewhere else that I'm not aware of? Because to be honest I kinda think we should review the rule if it is. Alex the Weeb 21:10, April 30, 2025 (EDT)
- From what I could dig up, this seems to have been something enforced by Omega Tyrant (I think I was the one who did most of the clean up); in some cases, games that were released too closely to the current Smash (despite releasing earlier) don't qualify either due to being too recent. Here's an edit summary of OT's on File:Peach.png for extra clarification:
"Standard procedure for general character articles is that they use the latest official art that inspired their Smash appearance(s), not their most recent official art. Unsure if this or SMP's render should be used, but SMP I think released a bit too close to Ult's release and this render did get general promotion usage prior to Ult." - Also, to my understanding, general character pages are supposed to mostly contain information that's relevant to the character's appearance(s) in Smash, not their series in general (note how Dedede's general page doesn't mention anything about his appearances after Star Allies nor his redesign in Forgotten Land). 🧥The Jacketed Terrapin🐢 22:40, April 30, 2025 (EDT)
THe Return of Anon 174[edit]
it is me, back after 3 years, anon 174, i edited the upcoming appearence tracker via a different ip address to remove bananza and others, i am sorry for vandalisim from before, what changes happened to ssb recently, and why are half your sandboxes gone? also, i can't edit the news template because i'm an anon account, but if the late james carter cathcart did pokemon voices in ssb before, could his passing be mentioned in the news like some other voice actor's passings have before? i am glad to be here again! 174.178.119.207 19:52, July 19, 2025 (EDT)
- Since you're back again anon, I would heavily advise you follow what this thread says (e.g. take some time to think about whether or not your edits are relevant or necessary to an article and don't make constant talk page posts unless they're absolutely necessary). Anyway, time to reply to a few of your comments:
- "i am sorry for vandalisim from before"
None of your edits were actual vandalism. While most of them were either not very well constructed or were unnecessary, I still recognize they were done in good faith. Vandalism would be something like replacing all content on Sonic's page with the entire script of Bee Movie or rewriting the Smash Ultimate page to be some AVGN-styled rant on the game.
- "what changes happened to ssb recently"
From what I can recall, there were 15 new spirits and the amiibo for the rest of the Fighters Pass Vol. 2 released, but otherwise, nothing major overall.
- "if the late james carter cathcart did pokemon voices in ssb before, could his passing be mentioned in the news"
Since you already started a discussion on "Template talk:News", here's my response. 🧥The Jacketed Terrapin🐢 20:50, July 19, 2025 (EDT)- Oops, forgot to reply to one comment I wanted to answer:
- BTW, should characters have a section of their current non-ssb voice actor, usally for the mario characters now? 174.178.119.207 23:35, July 19, 2025 (EDT)

- If you think a certain user is causing issues to the wiki, then the talk page of a regular user is not the appropriate place to discuss it. Since IPs cannot edit the Admin's noticeboard, then your best bet is to either take matters to an admin's talk page or, if you have an account on Discord, ping an admin over there. Here is a list of the currently active admins on SmashWiki if you need a reminder. 🧥The Jacketed Terrapin🐢 01:48, July 24, 2025 (EDT)
- Can you add mario party jamboree tv as the latest appearnce for some mario characters maybe? 174.178.119.207 01:22, July 25, 2025 (EDT)
Reponse to changing the image back to the MML2 Art[edit]

Mario universe[edit]
Does the opening paragraph in the "Franchise description" section need to be changed in any way? Lcrossmk8 (talk) 03:08, August 24, 2025 (EDT)
- To tell you the truth, franchise descriptions aren't really my forte (at most, I just fix whatever small errors I can), so I'm afraid you got the wrong guy. 🧥The Jacketed Terrapin🐢 03:26, August 24, 2025 (EDT)
Character reactions[edit]
Holy cow, Byleth got backlash? I didn't know that. Do you have any proof of that? Lcrossmk8 (talk) 22:11, August 31, 2025 (EDT)
- I don't have any specific comments (and to be honest, I really do not feel like going through several YouTube videos/comments, Twitter posts, Reddit posts, etc. just to find some examples of people publicly bashing Byleth's inclusion), but I do have proof in the like-to-dislike ratios of two official videos relating to Byleth in Smash (do note you can only see the dislikes on YouTube if you have an extension that brings them back):
- Byleth's reveal trailer per the official Super Smash Bros. channel
- Byleth's Sakurai Presents presentation per the official Nintendo of America channel
- For the record, the SSBU character reveal trailer with the second-worst ratio (or at least at the time I first did this investigation a couple years ago) is Pyra & Mythra's, whose ratio is nowhere near as bad as Byleth's, so that's why I mentioned Byleth's backlash in particular. 🧥The Jacketed Terrapin🐢 22:36, August 31, 2025 (EDT)
"Ring of heart"[edit]
The intention was not to call the icon a "ring of heart"; it is a ring made up of heart icons. Aidan the Gamer 21:28, September 10, 2025 (EDT)
- Ah, I understand now. Thanks for the clarification (though to be honest, I don't think it really matters since there aren't any other heart icons on Riku's Station, anyway). 🧥The Jacketed Terrapin🐢 22:40, September 10, 2025 (EDT)
Anniversary Edition[edit]
Currently, the Dragonborn's most recent appearance is listed as Skyrim's anniversary edition, and to my understanding, it's a separately purchasable expansion pack—something akin to the Nintendo Switch 2 editions of video games. Someone else should correct me if I have that wrong, though. Aidan the Thankful Gamer 15:33, November 5, 2025 (EST)
- Correct me if I'm wrong (cuz I could've sworn I've seen others claim this), but don't we usually treat Switch 2 Editions the same way as non-separate DLC expansions? I know we've counted something like Torna - The Golden Country as a separate installment, but that's because, to my understanding, it also had a separate release without needing to own Xenoblade Chronicles 2, something that isn't the case with most, if not all, of these Switch 2 Editions (notice how Donkey Kong and Kirby don't have the Switch 2 Editions of Mario Party Jamboree and Forgotten Land respectively as their most recent appearances despite both versions adding major expansions). 🧥The Jacketed Terrapin🐢 16:30, November 5, 2025 (EST)
