The Rising Pound is a recovery technique used by Jigglypuff to float horizontally with side B. This move can be used to aid Jigglypuff's Recovery and to stall.

Execution
To execute a Rising Pound:
*Start a normal pound.
*As soon as possible, tilt the control stick up. This will angle your pound upwards. However, the lag afterwards returns you to slightly below original height.

Applications
*Recovery: Due to the fact that this moves Jigglypuff horizontally without any loss of vertical height, this technique can be used to aid Jigglypuff's recovery
*Wall of Pain: Tied in to recovery, mastery of the Rising Pound allows Jigglypuff to use all of its jumps in pursuing the enemy off of the stage, relying on the Rising Pound to return.
*Stalling: Because this manuever allows Jigglypuff to maintain vertical height indefinitely, it can be used to stall. If a Jigglypuff is about to die off of the bottom due to lack of jumps, the player might choose to repeatedly use the Rising Pound back and forth to avoid this death. Alternately, if the Jigglypuff player has the lead in a match and wants to run the clock out, that player could jump to a location where the opponent would not be able to hit them, and repeatedly rising pound back and forth until time runs out. However, these techniques are not allowed in tournament play and are generally highly frowned upon in casual play.

Controversy
This move was initially banned for all uses in tournament play, but in 2005 this rule was revised to allow it to be used in tournament play for recovery. However, it is still illegal to stall with this technique, by falling below the stage and repeatedly using Rising Pound to neither fall nor rise.
