Pikmin (ピクミン, pikumin) is a real-time strategy video game developed and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo GameCube in 2001 and on the Nintendo Wii in 2009 under their "New Play Control!" Series. Pikmin is the first game in the Pikmin series of video games, designed by Shigeru Miyamoto. It is the prequel to Pikmin 2. In the game, Captain Olimar is on a holiday in space, but a meteorite hit's his ship and crash lands on a planet. Most of the parts all scattered and Olimar himself is stranded. He meets the Pikmin, who help him fix his ship. In the end, Olimar either leaves the planet or becomes a Pikmin.
