ok i am just wondering y everyone has such a big problem changing from melee to brawl?... i am constantly hearing about people who REFUSE to play brawl with anything except for the gamecube controller, and i think that is stupid! i have played ssb since the original for the N64 and i made the transition from a controller with three handles on the N64 and ssb, to the one with two handles on the GC and ssbm and i have managed to make the transition to the one handled (notice a pattern? lol) wii remote for ssbb, i mean come on! stop throwing a fit because things got changed! its called SUPER SMASH BROS. BRAWL, NOT SUPER SMASH BROS. MELEE 1.5!!!! sure some of the nerfs sucked (trust me i know my main is samus, so i got some of the worst nerfs) but that doesnt make the nerfed chars. not playable, does it? i still do just fine with samus. they are still the same controls you just hold the controller differently. you still use B for special and A for smashes and tilts. and everyone mostly still has their characters, and if you dont they got replaced by someone similiar enough that you can use basically the same fighting style ex. mewtwo-lucario, young link-toon link. im sorry but people who complain about using wii remotes, or a couple nerfs on their main need to stop crying and GET OVER IT!-[[User:Ssnake ssamus|Ssnake ssamus]] 03:20, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

:I personally haven't converted because there's less buttons, not because of the shape or the number of handles. With more buttons, I have more precise functionality at my fingertips. ok... i play with the wii remote and the nunchuk and i see no crucial differences. the jump is still up on the control stick or you can program another button to be jump if you want, there is still b and a and all of the variations of the moves there is still the sheild button in basically the same spot the z button has been replaced with the d-pad to throw items and grab the d-pad has been replaced with the 1 and 2 buttons for taunts start has been replaced with the plus button. the only thing that doesnt have the same purpose or a replacement is the c stick which has been converted into a button. so i still have the same functionality as i did because i never used the c stick for my smash attacks, and i dont think it is that much harder to press an extra button while holding the joystick. and as for gargomon, i am sorry for being mean  but, you are either a slow learner or REALLY stubborn because it took me a total of ten minutes to get used to the new button placement, like i said sorry. and does it really matter whether you perform the exact taunt you want when you do a taunt? taunts dont have any affect on the actual gameplay except maybe making the other player mad and leaving you wide open for attack.--[[User:Ssnake ssamus|Ssnake ssamus]] 17:38, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

one of the reasons I don't use the gamecube or classic controller is because I never really liked hitting up on the control stick to jump. but '''that is just my preference'''. everyone has their own preferences, and they're all different. you like to use the wiimote and nunchuck, others like just the wii remote, some like classic controller, and some like to stay in their comfort zone with the gamecube controller. plus, I'm just not as good with the other controls, and I'm sure other people are the same way. :You see no crucial difference? For one, SHFFLing, while removed in SSBB (in that you no longer need to L-cancel), is still a large part of the play, and the C-stick is crucial to performing certain attacks in the air, such as the slower characters: Roy (in SSBM) or Ike in SSBB. Also, the C-stick requires much less precision to make a Smash work: I hit a direction. Control-stick + A to me is more for Tilt attacks, which require a much finer usage of the Control-stick. I would rather practice tilts with Control than smashes with control.

:The taunt: Yes, they actually do have an effect on the game. While I haven't played Brawl enough to know about all the taunts, in SSBM Luigi's taunt was a Meteor smash. Now, I imagine that one or two of the taunts in SSBB also has that potential, and so being able to taunt in all directions is, again, worthwhile to me, if not Garg.

:Furthermore, I've never jumped using the control stick. Again, not enough precision. Short hops come much easier with the Gamecube pad (ie, x/y) then they ever have with the stick.

:It just seems that the extra buttons the Gamecube pad provide allow for more refinement than that you seek. 1. i wonder if everyone bellyached this much when they were FORCED to switch to the gc controller, i dont think they should have made brawl playable with the gc controller in brawl, but throughout this whole conversation my main point has been this: everyone is too stuck in the past, you want it to be more like melee than it really is and you are afraid of change
2.peetzalink, and everyone actually, you can customize controls. you can set the jump to other buttons also such as c or whatever you want so its not like you are forced to use the default controls that they set for you at the beginning
3.ok to someone who didnt sign their post... so you think that using luigis taunt (and others) is that important to gameplay? dont you think there are other meteor smashes luigi can use that arent as hard to perform?
4.that... annoys me. idk how many other people on here are like this but have you ever heard the saying "dont knock it til you try it?" well dont tell me how bad the wii remote is for gameplay until you have tried it more than a few times over at your freinds house who has brawl. because, it takes a while to get used to ,sure, but do you jump in a pool and say "brr, its cold in here!" then jump out and go home? complaining the whole time? 

oh, and as a last side note, to unsigned user, you still have a c-stick similiar control and it is the only motion based control in the whole game, if you flick the wii remote in a certain direction it will perform that directions smash, just like the c-stick, which brings me to my last question of this post, if ssbb had used motion controls for alot of gameplay instead of that small peice, can you imagine how much people like you would have complained and had total meltdowns over this? if you have this many problems with the changes they already made are causing you to do this imagine what that would have done.--[[User:Ssnake ssamus|Ssnake ssamus]] 23:42, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

:People have been bringing up the custom control setups; I prefer to go for default since A. I'm used to it B. it dosn't matter how you arrange the butons, they're still in different places, C. you can't always change to your own Name, and D. it's very inflexible how the game will let you assign buttons. im not trying to pick a fight sky i am trying to figure out why people seem to have such a problem with brawl i think that everyone has way too many problems with it, and you say im "flinging personal attacks" when in all actuality the only time i am directing a comment towards one person in particular is when they have said something that i responded too if i were personally attacking people you would know, i used the swimming thing as a comparisong to just using the wii remote a few times and saying you dont like it, i dont care how much you swim. and i actually have never had an account on smashboards and i dont feel the need to as for the warning about the behavior it sounded alot more like a threat, and i really dont like threats if i was truly being as aggressive as i usually get when people piss me off you would REALLY be able to tell, before i continue though, i apologize if i got too aggressive i just think that brawl is alot better than people make it out to be for the rest of this forum i will try to be less aggressive than i now realize i was, ok?. to gargomon, no offense but dont people play with the gc controller because they are used to the controls? if so then y would they want to switch the controls on it anyway? and to XXXXX i did not start a forum on people being whiny about controls i started a forum about people whining about brawli in general and i thought that it would be interesting to see what other people think about the subject which reminds me that we should get off the subject of controls i would like to know what other problems alot of people seem to have with brawl (characters gameplay or such)[[User:Ssnake ssamus|Ssnake ssamus]] 18:49, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

I don't really like using the Wiimote for Brawl, I still use my GameCube Controller, and there really is little difference on the funtions from the Nintendo 64 controller to the GameCube Controller, the differences are, Gamecube Controller now has a C-stick instead of buttons, it now has X and Y buttons, Z button is next to the R button, so it's easy to make that change, but compared to the GameCube Controler to the WiiMote, thats an extreame difference, but it could also be a preference to using Wired controllers. That's exactly what I did. While most people stuck with the GC Controller, I had this simple thought, "A new game requires a new control scheme." Since the Classic Controller was closest to the GC Controller, I decided to buy one and use it for Brawl. The very first match I played, I won. That's just how similar they are, and in 2 weeks, I was beating Lvl. 9 CPU's again. Change is not difficult, it just takes time. - [[User:GalaxiaD|GalaxiaD]] 19:50, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

The reason people choose the gamecube controller is about comfortability.  People have been using it for seven years now.  On top of that, if you're a more serious player than you will want the cube  or classic controller to take advantage of the extra buttons so you can use advanced techs like B sticking.  I use the c sitck for specials now, since I never used the C stick in melee.  personally the GC controller just feels better in my hands.  I found the classc controller a little weird so I decided not to use it.  It's that simple

Look. The Wiimote-Nunchuck actually has the same number of buttons, and the c-stick has the exact same function as shake smash. People think differently. They like different things. I like to keep moving forward. Some people like what they're used to. It's not like people are holding up picket signs outside of Nintendo of America saying, "Down with the Wii remote! Down with the Wii remote!" or Japanese people. "Hi Hi! Seorru Amiyamahey! Bonzai!" The only thing that I have to say related to this is what Sakurai said. "I have to recomend the GC controller. I like tho feel that powerful rumble!" Okay. No offense to Sakurai, but that just may be the stupidest thing he ever said, given that the Wiimote has rumble feature too. 'm out. The Wiimote and Nunchuck feels a little bit akward, but it's a lot better than the Wiimote NES style. The Classic Controller was the first one I used for Brawl. But it's not hard to switch from the Gamecube Controller to the Classic Controller, since both are a single piece as opposed to two pieces to hold. The default actions on the face buttons are terribly placed aside from a jump action on the x button, but with some customization, it works out very smoothly and as good as the Gamecube Controller. For me buttons aren't the issue, but I feel that because I am used to the Gamecube controller my reflexes aren't diminished, and I can play a lot more quickly with that control scheme.
