Editing Forum:Snake- what do you think about him?

So, what does everyone think about Snake? I think it was cool that they put him in Brawl. He also has a very annoying and useful combination of explosives. Any other thoughts? [[User:Jje92|Jje92]] ([[User talk:Jje92|talk]]) 02:34, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

He has the most projectiles of any character, and has pretty much infinite recovery though, if you use his explosives. He also can be hard to approach, because of his many explosives (motion senors, C4, remote missile, mortar)[[User:Jje92|Jje92]] ([[User talk:Jje92|talk]]) 02:52, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

Using his explosives only increases his damage though. Sure, you might make it back, but then you'll have to deal with your opponent at a high percentage, and that's not good. His strong attacks, variable projectiles, and great recovery give him some great advantages, but he's also quite slow, can be comboed easily, and he has poor jumps. Dexington's right. He's just a gift to a friend and wasn't wanted anyway. He's not a bad character,people focus too much on his projectiles and his so called "advanced techniques", Not enough on his tilts and aerials which come out quite fast and strong. Snake does have his weaknesses, but I agree that his tilts and aerials come out fast and strong. He is slow, though. I think he has a lot of potential for those who take the time to learn him. Snake's not the best character in Brawl (aside from fighting abilities), and Krystal and Megaman are worthier than him. However, he's not a waste of a character slot like Yoshi, Pikachu, Falco, Lucario, Captain Falcon, <s>the Kongs</s>, and Jigglypuff are. Snake is one of those characters like Ness, Lucas, Marth, Roy, Mewtwo, Ike, Mr. Game & Watch, Red, R.O.B., Zamus, etc. where they can be at least somewhat neat, but nobody (or very few people) would care if they were never playable in Smash. The only reason Snake is in is because his creator wanted him in Melee so badly, but since it was so far in development, Sakurai put him in Brawl.
 
So Snake, a character that has nothing to do with Nintendo, is more worthy than Pikachu, the mascot of Nintendo's second largest franchise, and Donkey Kong, the main character of a popular Nintendo series?[[User:SonicROBTrainer|SonicROBTrainer]] ([[User talk:SonicROBTrainer|talk]]) 00:01, 12 July 2008 (UTC)

I can say Snake can be an annoying character. Projectiles, his [[snakedashing]], if you know how to use them right. I like using him, but not competitvely much, since I don't wanna risk being cheap. ^^ That wasn't me.  I think Snake is actually VERY good, I put him in top tier.  Sure you can edge guard him, but he's very heavy, and you'll have a hard time getting him off the edge in the first time.  ftilt [[Knee Lock]]s, up tilt is fast and powerful, neutral a is good, i just don't like his fair, because you need to double jump to even pull it off. -

When I said those characters were waste of space, I didn't say they were weak. I'm not a huge fan of Falco, but he's a good chain thrower, has a fast spike, a decent boost smash, a pretty useful down B, the highest inital jump, good aerials, his blaster is arguably the best, etc. However, he doesn't seem important enough (or at least have a creative moveset) to have gotten a spot in Melee and Brawl. --[[User:TStick|TStick]] ([[User talk:TStick|talk]]) 23:48, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

I don't think that any characters are wastes of slots except maybe Bowser, Dedede and Wario. Snake is definitely unique, and his fighting style is revolutionary (as Sakurai said) and has the power of being very evasive and powerful. The Kirby franchise was lacking in reps before Brawl, and both of the Kirby newcomers have original movesets, so Dedede isn't a waste. This page ''is'' about Snake, but as far as those characters, I'm just looking at how well they play. And I don't think any of them (except maybe Dedede) are worth playing. That's my opinion though, and I've seen some pretty good stuff done with them on thier side. But Snake is definitely special. And as far as where they're coming from, why should ROB be in Brawl? R.O.B. is in Brawl because, unlike Snake, he is important to Nintendo's history. Smash Bros is not about having good characters with fancy attacks and high tier placement, it's about celebrating Nintendo's history, along with a few third parties that helped sell the company's products. I fact, R.O.B. and Mario are the most deserving characters. I just can't see why all of you see Bowser and Falco as wastes of spce when Snake is the least deserving character on the roster.
