:Whoops, I didn't look into it well enough at all. I said the examples were dumb. Anyway, being able to hear the effect as a sound besides just describing what it is with text ''(especially if the only factor of it being an effect is aesthetic)'' should be acceptable. Isn't it a valid argument that the victory themes and crowd chants would fall into this category? They are literally getting special treatment if other sounds can't be added as well, even if they are more significant. Yet at the same time I have found something else that would be troubling: There are different variations of most effect SFX for small, medium, and large respectively (sometimes more). I really just dunno at this point. ::"Effect as a sound" is the problem, as effects do not have sounds. There are common pairs of effect and sound, but there is no enforced relationship between the two entirely independent mechanics. What does Normal sound like? Would you use Punch or Kick? Dedede doesn't use either, he uses Thwomp. Jigglypuff has some that use Paper; Palutena has a bunch that sound like Magic zap. Every single one of these sounds is also used for a different effect somewhere in the game. It doesn't work.
