Her basic move set is the same as Peach's, but this princess has her own unique personality. She's known for being upbeat, energetic, and a bit of a tomboy.

Daisy (デイジー, Daisy) is a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. She was revealed as a newcomer alongside Inkling and Ridley from Nintendo's 2018 E3 press conference, on June 12th, 2018. She is an Echo Fighter of Peach. Deanna Mustard's portrayals of Daisy in the Mario games were repurposed for Ultimate.

Differences from Peach

An icon used in notice templates. NOTE: SmashWiki is not speculative. Please refrain from adding detailed data values derived from pre-release gameplay footage, such as the E3 demo. Such data (damage values, launch trajectories, frame data, etc.) are subject to change before the official release.

Aesthetics

  • Change As with all echo fighters, Daisy has different aesthetic animations, such as her taunts, victory poses, and entrance animation.
  • Change Daisy has a more energetic idle stance, with her arms held up by her side.
  • Change Daisy uses a Blue Toad instead of a red one for her counter and throws.
  • Change Daisy has flower and petal effects for her attacks, including her dash attack and back aerial, instead of hearts.
  • Change Daisy has different, more cheerful facial expressions for many attacks and action.
  • Change Daisy has a different running animation similar to Super Mario Party.
  • Change Daisy's Final Smash is similar to Peach's Final Smash, except that it summons edible daisies instead of peaches, and is themed around herself.
  • Change Daisy is visibly (but only slightly) shorter than Peach. Whether this has any impact on her hitboxes compared to Peach is currently unknown.

Role in World of Light

Daisy was absent in the World of Light trailer, though she presumably became a spirit alongside the rest of the galaxy (excluding Kirby) when Galeem unleashed its beams of light.

Trivia

  • As an Echo Fighter, Daisy uses abilities normally unique to Peach, including: Floating, Toad, Peach Blossom, and more.
    • Peach's ability to float originates from her appearance in Super Mario Bros. 2, and Daisy had never possessed this ability prior to Ultimate.
      • Daisy has been shown to have her own unique ability in this manner as of Super Mario Run, where she has an extra jump in contrast to Peach's float.
    • Despite featuring a Toad in her neutral special, grabs, and throws, Daisy has little affiliation with them in the Mario franchise. Her country, Sarasaland, is also uninhabited by Toads.
      • In Mario Super Sluggers, during the game's story mode, a Red Toad guards Daisy after Bowser Jr. turns her into a stone statue. Daisy and a number of Toads are members of Peach's team in this mode, but Daisy does not share "Chemistry" with any of them during play.
      • Coincidentally, in Mario Strikers Charged, her Toad sidekick is a Blue Toad like in Ultimate.
    • Peach's use of picking Vegetables is based on the mechanic to do so in Super Mario Bros. 2, a game Daisy never appeared in; as such, Daisy has no personal connection with this ability.
    • Prior to Ultimate, Daisy used a parasol in the Mario Party 3 minigame Parasol Plummet, and in the form of the Peach Parasol glider from the Mario Kart series; these are instances where all playable characters can use parasols, but she also has her own color scheme for the glider.
    • The frying pan used in their forward smash can be correlated to the one Peach used in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. Daisy had no previous affiliations with this item, however.
    • Their Final Smash puts enemies to sleep just as Peach's Sleepy Time attack did in Super Mario RPG. This is not something that can be correlated to Daisy, either.
    • Peach's moves featuring hearts are switched out with flowers for Daisy's, but they function the same. Daisy has appeared in Mario games where her flower powers function uniquely, however; including: Mario Power Tennis, Mario Super Sluggers, and Mario Sports Mix.
  • Many of Daisy's animations and artwork reference the Mario series.
  • Daisy was the first Echo Fighter revealed for Ultimate.
    • Daisy was the second newcomer announced for Ultimate. This marks only the second time a new clone character for a Smash title had been announced before the game launched, with the first being Lucina in SSB4.
    • Daisy is one of only two newcomers and the only Echo Fighter introduced in Ultimate to not have splash art and an introduction tagline, the other being Inkling.
    • Daisy is the only Ultimate newcomer revealed during E3 to not be playable in the E3 demo.
    • Daisy is the only Echo Fighter to be featured on the full version of the box art.
    • Daisy and Dark Samus are the only echo fighters to be cloned from female characters.
  • Daisy was the first character to be shown on the new victory screen.
