:It also stalls his vertical momentum, just not as much as down air. This can be easily checked in-game, especially in Ultimate with Training mode's frame advance option. Use back air in a short hop and it'll autocancel. I'd advise you don't question the content of articles if you don't actually have the Smash games (especially Ultimate), since that's where all the information comes from in the first place.
