Charizard (Lizardon; リザードン, Rizādon) is a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Brawl in a sense; it is one of three Pokémon that can be played when you select Pokémon Trainer from the game's character select screen, the other two being Squirtle and Ivysaur. Like Pit and Meta Knight, Charizard is able to glide and jump multiple times in mid-air. However, Charizard's glide is somewhat less maneuverable than Pit's and Metaknight's.

Charizard has a suprisingly fast running speed (tied with Pikachu), though it is true to its speed stat in the Pokémon games. However, it has one of the slowest walking speeds in the game. It is the 5th heaviest character. Charizard cannot be used by the Pokemon Trainer (SSBB) in Adventure Mode: The Subspace Emissary until the Pokemon Trainer battles and captures it.

Charizard also apeared in SSB, and SSBM as a pokeball item pokemon (non-playable in SSBM, and SSB.)
