::::The current setup uses orange for newcomers, aqua for veterans, green for stages, blue for assist characters, yellow for items, and magenta for other notable things. I'm not a fan of using dark/light shades of the same colour because faded dark colours tend to look odd against faded light ones and stand out much more. I also don't think it's necessary to distinguish old and new stages, items, or assists; characters are really the one everyone wants to distinguish.
