MikeHaze began playing ''Melee'' in 2006, after seeing {{Sm|HugS}} play at a tournament his school held. His first tournament was {{Trn|Champ Combo: Yayuhzz Edition}}.
Mike competed throughout many West Coast events throughout this era, although never reached a ranked player status in his initial days of ''Melee''. As of 2008, MikeHaze began playing ''Brawl'' for fun, while playing ''Melee'' competitively throughout Southern California. After a 3rd place finish at Nexus 08, MikeHaze retired from ''Melee''.


mikeHAZE began playing SSBM in March of 2006, after seeing smash pro Hugo Gonzales play at a tournament his high school held. His first tournament was Champ Combo: Yayuhzzzz Edition.  
MikeHaze then played ''Super Smash Bros. Brawl'' competitively, and was ranked 3rd on the Southern California Power Rankings prior to his retirement. He was considered the best ''Brawl'' Marth player in the United States throughout its active competitive life, as he beaten top players such as Ally before in tournament, and always significantly outperformed other Marths in the country. On the world stage, while MikeHaze's Marth was still among the best, {{Sm|Mikeneko}} and {{Sm|Mr. R}} outperformed MikeHaze's Marth at nationals.


mikeHAZE eventually met a smasher by the name of INKS, who lived about 10 minutes away from him.  Through INKS, mikeHAZE learned advanced techs.  INKS eventually moved, and mikeHAZE was left to be the only smasher in the 818 community worth mentioning (other than Superfriends). mikeHAZE then ventured off to play new people, and is responsible for training/teaching smash to players such as Nes, Morb, and Tofu.  He is responsible for the bringing together of a lot of the 818 smash community, he hosts smashfests at least a few times a week, with players such as HugS, Mango, Lucky, Wolf, Gabe, and others.
In 2011, Mike started the "Elite 4 Series," a series of Brawl events that helped keep the SoCal Brawl scene thriving. Over 25 tournaments were held for the series, a few of which also featured ''Melee''.


Up until April of 2007, mikeHAZE attended tournaments about 1-2 times a month, until he stopped playing the game when his musical career took off. He marched with the Velvet Knights Drum and Bugle Corps. which took up all of his summer and a lot of time prior to that.
During the Summer of 2013, MikeHaze stopped organizing events to focus on his professional competitive career. With no active Brawl tournament series and the release of ''Project M'' Mike began competing in Melee once again, still playing his former main, Fox.


In September of 2007, mikeHAZE began playing SSBM again, but now he was back in action, with the will to improve. One night, PboDY came to his house, bringing smashers Mango, DC, and LuCKy a long. Eventually, mikeHAZE grew close to Mango and LuCKy, and they invited mikeHAZE's current crew (team 8bit - composed of Nes, Morb, and j666) to join Roundtable, forming the crew RoundBit.
