==Pre-recorded sets controversy==
As VGBootCamp was streaming the tournament, a Twitter account leaked an image that showed all the tournament sets pre-recorded on Shared Content.<ref>{{cite web|url=https://twitter.com/SSBU_Tekaren/status/1421890610173202437|title=Shared Content VODs}}</ref>. Minutes later, Smasher Belipe accused VGBootCamp for holding the tournament a day prior but broadcasting it the next day, using this image as proof.<ref>{{cite web|url=https://twitter.com/Belipe_SSB/status/1421892880868810755|title=Belipe's accusations}}</ref> Following the posts, an image of the completed bracket was also leaked.<ref>{{cite web|url=https://web.archive.org/web/20210801180443/https://twitter.com/SSBU_Tekaren/status/1421894640479911938|title=Leaked bracket}}</ref> Additionally, players on the livestream only showed fighter names instead of nametags, which are indicative of replays.
VGBootCamp's owner {{Sm|GimR}} later responded to the accusations. He admitted that the tournament did take place the day prior, but stated that it was to ensure that having a third person spectate the match would not cause additional lag, a problem that [[Tournament:SWT: South America Ultimate Online Qualifier#Controversy|caused controversy during South America's SWT qualifier]]. He additionally apologized for not handling the re-broadcast that well and stated that the team wanted to keep the spotlight on South America without giving away the results of the matches.<ref>{{cite web|url=https://www.reddit.com/r/smashbros/comments/ow1kbl/south_america_deserves_better/h7dyosq/|title=GimR's response}}</ref>
