Attacks in general are able to deal more damage to shields because shields no longer take reduced damage from attacks. Highly damaging attacks, such as charged smashes, are now able to deplete a significant chunk of a character's shield, whereas before it was negligible. Several attacks beyond Shield Breaker were also given a drastic enough increase in shield damage to instantly shatter full shields, such as {{SSB4|Bowser}}'s [[Bowser Bomb]]. This overall has made shield breaks a less rare occurrence than they were in the previous games.
