Captain Falcon returns as a veteran in ''[[Super Smash Bros. 4]]''. He appears in {{SSB4|Robin}}'s trailer fighting him, [[Chrom]], and {{SSB4|Lucina}}. He is a starter character for the first time since ''Super Smash Bros. Melee'', while he retains his ''Brawl'' design.

Captain Falcon has returned to a favorable position like in ''SSB'' and ''Melee'', as he ranks 14th out of 56 on the ''SSB4'' [[tier list]]. The removal of [[hitstun]] cancelling, something that proved to be largely detrimental to Captain Falcon in ''Brawl'', restored his renowned combo game.  As usual, he combines speed with power, as well as an effective and vastly reaching [[dash grab]]. [[Raptor Boost]] saw an increase to its knockback, making it a reliable KO move. Nevertheless, Captain Falcon still saw some notable nerfs. His [[Knee Smash]] gained extra landing and ending [[lag]], and can no longer [[autocancel]] from a short hop. His trademark [[Falcon Punch]] also delivers much less knockback and deals less damage. His recovery still remains average and easy to [[edge-guarding|edge-guard]] against. Overall, Captain Falcon's appearance in ''SSB4'' is seen as a return to his former glory thanks to the important buffs he receved, earning him respectable representation and results in tournaments.
