Overall, Piranha Plant is a unique heavyweight that utilizes various projectiles and attacks to effectively zone and KO opponents but must be careful when throwing out normal attacks to avoid being punished due to the end lag that many of them have, thus making it a patient fighter when it comes to approaching. Although Piranha Plant had amassed great popularity as a character itself at its early stages, its representation has been below-average in tournaments due to its weaknesses and general unpopularity in competitive play. This has led to most professionals considering Piranha Plant as a mid tier character. In recent times, however, players have achieved stronger impacts compared to releases such as {{Sm|Brood}} placing 2nd at {{Trn|Umebura SP 4}}. Other smashers such as {{Sm|Lucky|p=Minnesota}} and {{Sm|Greward}} have also done work at regional and national-level tournaments. This makes its viability debatable.

==Piranha Plant Early Development==
Even though {{SSBU|Piranha Plant}} does not use some sort of vehicle in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, animation files of Bowser Jr’s can be found in Piranha Plants coding, suggesting that the development team used {{SSBU|Bowser Jr}} as a starting point and worked off of him when creating Piranha Plant. This could mean that if Piranha Plant was built off of Bowser Jr, maybe Nintendo originally intended for the Piranha  plant it to be in a Koopa Clown Car, in similar vein to Bowser Jr.
This being the case, maybe the Clown Car was how Piranha Plant achieved mobility and that the idea was scrapped later on in development to give the plant more personality. All of this could mean that the anonymous 4chan user could’ve been referring to an earlier build of Piranha Plant, in which it still used a Koopa Clown Car vehicle.
Piranha Plant does has an unused animation for a third jump, whenever this is related to the Koopa Clown Car is unknown. If it is related to the Clown Car, the third jump animation has the chance that it could’ve been used in the Clown Cars Up Special move, in which it might’ve performed a jump like move, or just that the Clown Car could perform 2 midair jumps instead of the basic 1. This may not be the case as Bowser Jr’s Junior Clown Car can only perform 1 midair jump.
This could all be incorrect seeming that originally, the speed attribute for Piranha Plant was the lowest of any fighter, meaning the plant moved the slowest. This may or may not counteract with the Clown Car theory. The speed attribute, being extremely low, could mean that the Piranha Plant intended to move by hopping from place to place. This would fit a low speed attribute. Either this or that the Clown Car was extremely slow at moving. The speed attribute could just be a place holder value and was never intended to be used ingame.
