Ultimate'' was formally revealed during E3 2018 and was released on December 7, 2018. All veterans from every previous ''Smash'' game return, joined by new fighters including {{SSBU|Inkling}}, {{SSBU|Daisy}}, {{SSBU|Ridley}}, {{SSBU|Simon}}, {{SSBU|Richter}}, {{SSBU|Chrom}}, {{SSBU|Dark Samus}}, {{SSBU|King K. Rool}}, {{SSBU|Isabelle}}, {{SSBU|Ken}}, and {{SSBU|Incineroar}}, as well as [[Downloadable content (SSBU)|DLC]] fighters {{SSBU|Piranha Plant}}, {{SSBU|Joker}}, {{SSBU|Hero}}, {{SSBU|Banjo & Kazooie}}, {{SSBU|Terry}}, {{SSBU|Byleth}}, {{SSBU|Min Min}}, and {{SSBU|Steve}} alongside multiple additional upcoming and unspecified fighters.
