Target Smash!
Target Smash! (Break the Targets! in Super Smash Bros. and Target Test in Melee) is a mini-game appearing in all three installments of the Super Smash Bros. series. The goal of the game is to break 10 targets as quickly as possible. In the first two games, each character had a their own unique target course, while in Brawl, there are five progressively harder levels common to all characters (which must first be unlocked by clearing Classic on the corresponding difficulty, or twice on the previous difficulty).
The game records the lowest time taken to break all ten targets. If a character has never broken all the targets, the game will also record how many targets were broken in that time. There is also a total time that is kept that includes the cumulative time taken to clear every character's stage. The total time only appears after all characters have cleared their stage.
In Brawl, one can also save replays of their attempts. Additionally, items have now been incorporated into the mini-game. Co-op mode is also available.
In Brawl, you can use a code to play on the Target Smash Lvl. 1, as demonstrated here as well as play on the other levels.

Riddling
Riddling is a meta-game created by players, wherein the player attempts to break as many targets as possible before touching the ground. Exact rules vary, but the most commonly accepted rules are:
- The trial may begin from any point on the field.
- The player must jump before any other inputs are used.
- Wall jumping / clinging / grappling, and tether recovery are all permitted.
Trivia
- Despite Jigglypuff's Sing doing no damage in matches, the attack can still break the targets in Target Smash.
- Captain Falcon's Falcon Dive can break the Targets in Target Smash but cannot break a Smash Ball. The same goes with Ganondorf's Dark Dive.
- Wario's minimally charged Wario Waft does no damage in matches, but can break a target in Target Smash, similar to Jigglypuff's sing. However, this is not recommended if you want to break your own record, due to the ending lag from the attack.
