Young Link (こどもリンク, Young Link) is a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. He was officially confirmed as playable on June 12th, 2018.

Changes from Super Smash Bros. Melee

Young Link is now a semi-clone of Link, rather than a full clone like he was in Melee, as he still shares some attacks, but not as many due to changes in Link's moveset, and is not classified as an Echo Fighter.

Aesthetics

  • Change Young Link once again uses his appearance from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, using the Kokiri Sword and Deku Shield as part of his moveset. His color scheme is more subdued than it was in Melee, and he is much more expressive.
  • Change His taunt from Melee executes significantly faster.
  • Change He has a new animation, presumably a taunt, where he lifts his sword into the air while opening his mouth.
  • Change He has a new taunt where a fairy (presumably Navi) flies around him, akin to Link's side taunt.

Ground attacks

  • Buff Neutral attack is now a flurry of slashes that transition much faster, and has a finisher in the form of an ascending slash.

Special moves

  • Change Fire Bow only lights when fully charged.
  • Buff Like with Link's Bombs in Super Smash Bros. 4, the explosions from Young Link's Bombs do not damage him if they hit an opponent.
