The tournament was partially funded through a donation drive compendium which ran from September 3 - September 26, 2015 and resulted in pot size increases for both games as well as funding to fly notable players to the tournament, such as {{Sm|Vinnie}}, {{Sm|Abadango}}, {{Sm|Javi}} and {{Sm|Ice}}, among others. The Big House 5 currently stands as the [[List of largest Smash tournaments|second largest ''Melee'' tournament of all time]] with 1,316 entrants.
