 Has anyone noticed that he appears to be some kind of "Evolution" of the Melee wireframes? He even has a smash ball-looking thing inside of his body, and if you listen closely to the final boss music, it's actually a remix of the wireframe's fight music from Melee.  Just another theory I always liked to think of.  Since the playable characters are puppets/trophies or figures I always imagined that super smash brothers was all inside a person's imagination, making their toys fight each other for their own entertainment, much like a child with action figures.

+I agree.  It seems to be an evolution of what the child is playing with.  The child was playing with dolls and so took the form of a puppeteer hand, and now older, he is playing them in video games and has taken the form of a Tron-user.  The statues are really just their 3d-meshes.  One might think the young man is deleting his nintendo games from his system, and he imagines (or programs) the nintendo characters fighting back.
+I have a theory about him as well; My Theory is that Tabuu was the original God(or controller) of the SSB universe,until Master hand came along. The two fought and MS won,Tabuu and founded the Subspace Army and Took control of MS as some type of revenge. I know it doesn't make any sense,but that is what I think happened,at least.

+I noticed that Tabuu resembles Giygas in at least two ways. But it's not that exciting, probably just two references to ''another'' boss, because Tabuu already resembles Marx and other bosses. Anyway, pay attention to Tabuu's theme song. It starts out with a rather slow and "calm" beat, and then warps to a harder and more agitated beat. When fighting Giygas in EarthBound, the song starts out calm and weird, and suddenly starts rockin'. Another similarity I noticed (albeit smaller) is that Tabuu's Off Waves look something like "the attack whose true form cannot be grasped" by Giygas: Their aspect is a red circle of energy that grows from the middle to the edges of the screen. Anyway, don't take these 2 resemblances too seriously. like I said, they could be just another reference and not much else. The background of Tabuu is very similar to Earthbound's and Mother 3's very trippy-like pattern changing background that does differ when fighting different enemies but in that respect they are all very similar as well.
