 Following this season, MkLeo decided to take a step back from competing to focus on his personal life, opting to only attend events in Mexico until October. He attended a few events during this time, including the supermajor {{Trn|Smash Factor X}} and the major {{Trn|Delfino Maza 2023}}. His performance at these events, however, were also rather underwhelming; aside from winning two superregionals, MkLeo underperformed at most of the events he attended. For example, Smash Factor X marked the first Smash Factor event since {{Trn|Smash Factor 2013}} where he didn't make Grand Finals, as he ultimately placed 5th. In addition, this period saw MkLeo gain his first-ever unranked loss, losing to {{Sm|SuperDog}} 2-1 at {{Trn|Hooters Universidad Smash Ultimate}}, a regional event where he ultimately placed 4th.

Despite pulling out Marth, who he used to defeat Riddles previously, Riddles ultimately defeated MkLeo 3-2, eliminating MkLeo at 17th. This trend would continue at {{Trn|Luminosity Makes Moves Miami 2023}}, as MkLeo would lose yet another set to a {{SSBU|Mario}} player, this time to {{Sm|Kurama}}, to whom he lost 3-0, reminiscent of his loss to him at {{Trn|Frostbite 2020}}. He later lost 3-1 to {{Sm|SHADIC}} in the losers bracket, and finished at 13th. Later, he started off decent at the most stacked tournament of the year, {{Trn|Port Priority 8}}, where he reverse 3-0'd {{Sm|MVD}} to qualify for top 64 Winners Side. He then faced against {{Sm|Kaninabe}}, the best Fox player in Japan, who was fresh off of reverse 3-0ing his fellow Luminosity teammate {{Sm|Tweek}}. Kaninabe also proceeded to beat Leo 3-2 in a clutch fashion with a jump read up air, sending him into the losers bracket. He then fought {{Sm|MuteAce}} in a runback from GENESIS 9 earlier this year, but this time MuteAce came out on top 3-0ing MkLeo's Byleth, tying his worst placement at 17th since Umebura Japan Major 2019, along with the rest of the Mexican players {{Sm|Sparg0}}, {{Sm|Skyjay}}, and {{Sm|Maister}}.

A recurring theme in these sets were MkLeo's choice of characters: for example, his loss to Skinny the Pooh was with Joker, a character known to struggle against Mario, and his loss to MuteAce was with Byleth even though MuteAce had soundly defeated MkLeo's Byleth beforehand. As such, many began to question MkLeo's character roster and whether he was juggling too many characters at the same time. In, many players also began questioning whether MkLeo was anywhere near the top 10 that season, let alone in the top 10.
-After dropping several sets to non-top level players, and failing to make it into top 8 at every major he attended after {{Trn|Delfino Maza 2023}}, the community questioned if MkLeo was even a contender for top 10. As 2023 would near its end, MkLeo would attempt to make inroads at two important events: {{Trn|Ultimate Fighting Arena 2023}} and {{Trn|Watch The Throne}}, the former being the second largest ''Ultimate'' tournament in Europe after {{Trn|Tera}} and the latter being an invitational tournament that included the best players in the world. At UFA, MkLeo would have a rough start after losing to {{Sm|NaetorU}} 1-3 in top 64, yet another loss to yet another non-top level player. However, MkLeo would later soar through top 64 losers and would eventually make it to top 8. He then went on to defeat {{Sm|Tarik}} 3-2 and would upset {{Sm|Tea}} 3-1, the latter being the number one seed of the tournament, but would get upset by {{Sm|Raflow}} 2-3 in Losers Semifinals, finishing his run at 4th, his best placement in an Ultimate major since {{Trn|MAJOR UPSET}} almost 8 months earlier. At Watch the Throne's Round Robin stage, MkLeo would take a set off {{Sm|Ken}} 3-1, but would lose back to back sets off both {{Sm|Sonix}} 0-3 and {{Sm|Lui$}} 1-3. He would later be sent to Gauntlet and would face off {{Sm|Sparg0}}, but Sparg0 ultimately defeated MkLeo 1-3 which resulted in MkLeo starting in losers. From there MkLeo started to perform better as he would defeat {{Sm|ApolloKage}} 3-2, a player which he had previously lost to twice earlier this year, and would then defeat {{Sm|Dabuz}} 3-1 successfully making into top 8, only to lose to {{Sm|Ken}} 1-3 ending his run at 7th. Despite the streak of bad performances and poor results, MkLeo would prove to show some degree of consistency given his encouraging performances at two important events to conclude the season, and most people would start to regain confidence that MkLeo may stay as a top 10 player.
+There was still some hope left, as aside from a disappointing {{Trn|Sunrise 2023}} run, where he placed 9th losing to {{Sm|KID}} and {{Sm|Supahsemmie}}, MkLeo managed to clean up his game and saw a small resurgence in the last few weeks of the season. First, his trip to Europe saw him attend the major {{Trn|Ultimate Fighting Arena 2023}}, and his performance marked MkLeo's best performance in months. After falling to {{Sm|NaetorU}} while using {{SSBU|Lucina}}, MkLeo ran through the Loser's bracket, surviving game 5 sets against {{Sm|BassMage}} and {{Sm|Tarik}} and defeating the tournament's #1 seed {{Sm|Tea}} before falling to {{Sm|Raflow}} for 4th. Although this was the first European event he failed to win, on the other hand MkLeo's win over Tea marked his first top 20 win since Sonix at Wavedash 2023. In addition, MkLeo's performance at the final major of the year, {{Trn|Watch The Throne}}, was equally as solid. Although his first two days were rough, where he defeated {{Sm|KEN}} but lost to Sonix, {{Sm|Lui$}}, and Sparg0 in the Gauntlet to start on the Loser's side, MkLeo managed to defeat ApolloKage and {{Sm|Dabuz}} before losing to KEN in the runback for 7th. Despite this placement, MkLeo once again claimed a few top 20 wins. These two runs convinced players that MkLeo could see a potential comeback in the future: despite ultimately finishing 11th on the [[LumiRank 2023]], many players were confident that MkLeo could regain his former glory, especially after he announced his motivation returning for the game.
